The Washington Mystics have traded two-time All-Star guard Ariel Atkins to the Chicago Sky. The Mystics will receive the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, a 2027 second-round pick, and the rights to swap 2027 first-round picks with the Sky.
With Atkins’ departure, the Mystics bid farewell to the last remaining member of their 2019 championship team and signal their commitment to a full rebuild. The team now holds three first-round picks in the upcoming draft (Nos. 3, 4, and 6).
Meanwhile, the Chicago Sky have been busy this off-season, acquiring a proven talent like Atkins to revamp their backcourt. Known for her defensive prowess and scoring, Atkins is expected to slot in as the starting shooting guard and make an immediate impact. Last season, she averaged 14.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Her presence will bolster the Sky’s new-look backcourt, which already added veterans Courtney Vandersloot, Kia Nurse, and Rebecca Allen.
