Draft Night: Need to Know
The Venue: The Shed at Hudson Yards is a state-of-the-art, flexible performance space. Unlike larger arenas, seating here—likely in the Griffin Theater or the retractable McCourt—is much more intimate, typically capping around 2,000. If you plan to attend, we recommend securing tickets immediately through Ticketmaster or the secondary market, as this high-design venue will sell out fast.
The Orange Carpet: This is the WNBA’s version of the Met Gala. Arrivals typically begin at 5:30 PM ET.
Expansion Rules: For 2026, keep in mind that the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire will have their own specific roster-building rules, but this night is where they select their first “foundational” rookies from the college ranks.
Draft Format: The draft consists of three rounds with 15 picks per round (now that Toronto and Portland have joined the league).
